This is a quaint coffee-house in West Jefferson, OH. I was favored to sing back-up for my back-up singers Lee and LeClaire Powell. Husband and wife team shared three original numbers as the headliner. They closed us out after a comedian and hip-hop artist had also presented.
Thanks for the oppurtunity guys! It was worth it!

I had a blast last night laying bgvox for Quan Howell's (formerly of Sounds of Blackness and of the Madea's Family Reunion play) debut cd "THINGS WILL GET BETTER'. We had some good ole fun working on the title cut and some other tracks for the release scheduled for a late September-early October release as Quan prepares to hit the road.
Bootsie (bgvox for Fred Hammond) was also in the mix as we 'put it down'.
Kudos to BJ, the engineer and Tommy Fisher of Howell and Fisher productions.
Thanks Quan for the opportunity!

Minister Jonathan Dunn & Faith Ministries (Kenneth Hoskins, writer for DetroitGospel.com)
Closing out the evening was Minister Jonathan Dunn & Faith Ministries who hails from the Springfield, Ohio area. An awesome and anointed songwriter, Jonathan Dunn (or “JD” as Pastor Sapp refers to him) has written some of Pastor Sapp’s most memorable songs including “Standing On The Rock” and “It’s Your Time For Your Miracle.” JD took the stage starting with a Bobby McFerrin type acapella tune at the request of Pastor Sapp. JD has a voice and tone that is unmatched, and as he performed his song “Oil of The Lord,” it became apparent that we were on the verge of incredible praise & worship. JD ministered to all in attendance explaining the power and anointing behind the lyrics of the song. Included was his testimony on how a deaf woman was made to hear only during the playing of this particular song. It was evident, as we all experienced true and sincere worship, JD and Faith Ministries served as perfect minstrels. “Be Exalted,” a song recorded by Sapp also served as the title cut from his last CD. Min. Jonathan Dunn, wrote the song, however, and he made that fact obvious as he raised the level of worship & ushered in the Holy Spirit. JD and company were backed by a full band and featuring new comer Tonya Baker, who is sure to be a major force in the industry. Take my word for it, her voice gave me goose bumps. Jonathan Dunn & Faith Ministries gave a soul stirring performance to close out a beautiful event!

whewwwwwwwwwww. I am tired... arrived back in Columbus in the wee small hours....today.
We had a blast at Lighthouse Worship Center with Dr. Marvin Sapp and the Singletons. It was my first time catching this singing family! They are cool folks!! Tonya Baker accompanied us and she did her thing on Worshipper!! God Bless Ya Maam!
Lighthouse's annual back to school rally helps students/parents with giveaways of school supplies and free haircuts. Even though it rained, the event was moved to the Lighthouse Edifice and we had a blast!!!

ahhh, JD, (Jonathan Dunn) you've done it again. FM singers were at the studio with Minister Dunn to complete the 2nd and final installment of the DVD release. It was a fun night. We were in informal mode, singing around the ole' baby grand and then the studio shot while doing 'Changes'.
What they should have been capturing is the girls getting dressed in that 4 x 4 bathroom (hilarious!) and us tearing up that Dominos pizza.....
Juante---I didn't know you could 'play' the piano; we did a cover of 'Lean on Me' stupid-funny, and the church went in.
Nice studio, by the way.
No Longer a Prisoner

I'd never heard Eld. Genary Maxwell speak, so I was anticipating a good word. I got it along with the 150 or so women that were in attendance at Mount Zion's 1st Annual Women's conference.
I shared in song-ministry and the WORD was brought forth by
Eld. Maxwell, who told us that we were no longer prisoners, but women of power. It was a meaningful time and I've started writing a song about it!
Thank you First Lady Nichole Humphrey of Mount Zion, the Women's Committee and Eld Maxwell for a moving night!

The race is not given to the swift, or to the strong. It is promised to the one that endures to the end......

It's worth it!!!!
The Art of Song-Writing
-
August 1, 2006
---started working on another song this week....I felt inspired after seeing Lisa McClendon sing on Saturday, July 29th....
It's important when writing that concepts and ideas are easily understood by listeners. It should be 'listen/understand'-friendly.
SOUL SESSIONS
-
July 31, 2006
I had the opportunity to hear some local artists along with Lisa McClendon perform at the Conference Center at City Center on Saturday, July 29, 2006. Kudos to Lamont Tillman (New Covenant Believers Church) and his crew for a splendid event!
3-piece band (Hamilton Hardin, Dwight Bailey and Cedric Easton) opened the night up, provided tunes for Dominique (The Book; this girl got scriptures!), and for Elevationists who also had new cd to share. These boys did THEY thing! They also played behind the delightful Lisa McClendon. She shared a powerful testimony of restoration for a troubled marriage and did a 7-song set for the small, intimate setting. An additional touch was the food samples of local caterers.
It was a pleasant evening and I hope to be more involved with the soul sessions event in the future.
Thanks Lamont!

RAIN CAN'T STOP THE PRAISE

July 22, 2006
Even though the rain started churning and things were moved inside of the sanctuary, the Outreach Community Festival (New Birth ministries) on July 22nd, went forward in fine fashion. Camille Betton ministered two original selections (Oh Give Praise and You're The One We Praise) and was backed by a three-piece band and 5 singers. Other artists performing were the Keys of Harmony, TP Project, Nu Sound of Worship and Zion's Melody.
Kudos to New Birth for making the festival a success!
WINDY CITY GETS BLOWN AWAY
-
July 16, 2006
Wow---Wow--Wow!!!! A whirlwind-week-end and three-stop tour of the city by Camille Betton has left Chicago breathless!
The day started with an early-morning worship experience at Oakdale Covenant Church (Pastor Dariuis Reed). Camille led 'You Are Good' with the worship chorale and favored the saints and the Lord with hometown boy Rick Robinson's-penned song "More Than Anything". She also sat in with the team on another Chicago favorite song, 'My Worship is For Real'. This selection, was penned by VaShawn Mitchell. 'I' don't know this song' she told Bryant Jones, musical director of the congregation when he told her to 'tap -in'. It didnt' matter to him, because he knew she could flow right in and that she did! The song was already rising and when Camille took the mike to sing to the Lord, the glory hovered. "It was a wonderful experience at the Oakdale ministry. The saints were receptive and welcomed me in. They'd never met me, but flowed right with me on the two songs. It is wonderful when two streams converge and a squall isn't created; it's the same, quiet, strong stream continuing to flow. From there, Erick Townsend took her back to the hotel for breakfast and quick-freshener (104 degrees that day) before on to the soundcheck with band and singers for 11:00 worship. "It was a sweet time of worship-intimacy. My friend and brother, opened the service with a PSALM and set the atmosphere for geniune interaction with the Most High. Pastor Smith shared an inspiring word out of Esther calling us to action for our present generation and God and the saints were blessed" Last ministry stop of the day (after a change of clothes, remember? it was 104 degrees!) was Giant Steps Church pastored by Minister Sean McMillan. What an awesome worship moment. Camille shared in song, Pastor gave a riveting destiny message, 'The Sixth Hour' John 4:19 and called us to hope in our destiny in God.
"Whew!!!!!!! What a great time of sharing and fellowship and ministry. Camille is thankful to the singers, musicians and pastors who flowed into her life the week-end of July 15-16. It will never be forgotten. "I can't wait till we do it again!' P.S. There was some reprieve from the weather with a lakeside lunch and video shoot at Lake Michigan. Check photo gallery....
STILL WRITING SONGS
-
June 26, 2006
Everyday can bring a new thought, a new concept that can be life-altering. I am on the lookout for the best in life and how to best express that in my writing.... working on a song now called the Point of Worship, which talks about how at any given moment, we could be able to dive into the well and worhip HIM. Also looking at another concept that my Pastor, Bishop Timothy J. Clarke has mentioned several time...the fact that no one needs a worship leader to tell them to worship the FATHER....all we have to do is remember...I am working on that song as well....the music is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder. I can't wait to complete that one!!

June 19, 2006
I've been in the studio woodshedding, recording, brainstorming. It's been a lively experience. We are working on a piece called 'I won't let go'. It's not a typical church song. The music is a break away from my normal genre, but the message is laced with strong scriptural content........
